PARENT NEWSLETTER
September 1, 2010 Volume 12 #2
Dear Nolan Families and Supporters,
The 2010-2011 school year is now in full-swing and we would like to thank all of our students, families, and staff for your part in helping us to get the year off to such a fantastic start! With the first couple of weeks completed, our students are settling in with their teachers and classmates while looking ahead to the many wonderful experiences they will have this year at Nolan. With the guidance and expertise of our teachers, and you as parents, our students will continue to benefit from and contribute to Nolan’s ongoing pursuit of educational excellence.
As we progress throughout the year, we will continue to need your help in establishing and continuing our adopted routines and procedures to assist our teachers and staff in sustaining the safe, nurturing, and rigorous learning environment we strive to provide here at Nolan. As a reminder, students are not to be dropped-off until 8:20 each morning as this is the time our teachers are on-duty for student supervision. Should you need childcare prior to this time, please contact our SACC Childcare director and she will be more than happy to assist you in signing up for this great program. As we begin student drop-off each morning, we appreciate everyone pulling all the way forward in the car line. Mrs. Taylor and I have enjoyed greeting our families and students each morning and have seen how efficiently the car line can run when we all follow these procedures. In addition, please be mindful that our first bell rings at 8:40 each morning followed by the 8:45 tardy bell. It is very important for students to be in their classrooms before the 8:45 bell as our teachers quickly begin instruction and activities. Aside from missing some of the beginnings of the day, we want students to avoid students feeling rushed or out-of-routine by entering the classroom late. We also appreciate everyone entering through the front doors each morning as the side entrances are only used by some of our students requiring that accessibility. Your understanding and support of these procedures are greatly appreciated!
In closing, I am reminded each day of the many wonderful things that make Nolan the outstanding school that it is. We would like to thank everyone in advance for all that you do in continuing and building our capacity to provide outstanding learning opportunities for our students each and every day. Looking ahead, please be sure to mark your calendars for our K, 2nd,and 4th grade Open House on October 4 and our 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade Open House on October 5. We look forward to seeing everyone on these dates and we also look forward to another outstanding year at Nolan!
